Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. 5 Your prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
God, what do you want me to do next? I literally would say it over and over like that. Okay, Lord, I got through that contraction, tell me what you want me to do next.
Karris Farris

“What can come from trusting God wholeheartedly and being obedient to what he says to do?” According to Kariss Farris: humility, submission, and supernatural birthing experiences!
Whether we are talking about Kariss going from 6cm dilated to 10cm and pushing in about 15 minutes…her 3 hour labor from start to finish…or her declaration that her labor and birth were not at all painful…Kariss’ birth story exemplifies the Lord leading her, walking with her, and walking her through her entire birth experience.
She recounts:
[I]t didn’t hurt like the ones before. I think it was because every single contraction now was purposeful. It wasn’t me fighting the pain…it was just me saying, ‘okay, Lord, what is the purpose for this contraction?”

Having kids taught me that I’m not entitled to anything…miscarriages and pregnancies have taught me that in anything and everything the purpose is to glorify God.
When I asked how she felt about herself and what she’d just accomplished after her supernatural birth, Kariss responded:
It had less to do with me and how I felt…about myself…it made me say, ‘Oh my gosh, God is so powerful, oh my gosh, God is so good’. I just remember saying over and over after she was out, ‘oh, God is good…God is so good. I was just really humbled that God could be that good.’

When you are truly focused on God, the focus shifts from…what are all these negative things that could happen or ‘oh this is going to hurt’ to ‘God what do you want me to gain from this experience?’ Any pain in the Bible always had a purpose.
